Every class except Scion has three Ascendancies they can choose from-the Scion only gets one Ascendancy option. Named Ascendancies, these prestige classes offer a unique passive tree that each grant build-enabling features. In theory, a Ranger could path to the top right of the tree near the Templar starting region, although this is highly inefficient in practice and usually not worth doing.
